One hundred years after the ratification of the nineteenth amendment (which granted women the right to vote), the exhibit shows the many ways Oregon history connects to the national history of woman suffrage and to the complex history of democracy in the United States. The Oregon State Bar (OSB) Board of Governors recently appointed Cable Huston partner Jon W. Monson as Chair of the OSB Legal Ethics Committee. The Legal Ethics Committee is the body charged with evaluating proposed changes to the Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct and developing formal ethics opinions interpreting those rules. Jon has served as a member of the Legal Ethics Committee for several years, including most recently as its Secretary.

The Oregon State Bar (OSB) Board of Governors recently appointed Cable Huston associate Nikki Abercrombie as Secretary of the OSB MCLE Committee. The MCLE Committee is the body charged with providing input, analysis, and evaluation of the program that accredits education programs for Oregon attorneys. Ms. Abercrombie’s appointment is effective January 1, 2020. She has been a member of the OSB MCLE Committee since 2018.

Cable Huston partner Katie Haraguchi successfully defended clients Cynthia and James Bradley dba Northwest Pom Rescue in a recent jury trial in Multnomah County Circuit Court. The plaintiffs alleged fraud, negligence, and emotional distress related to the rehoming of a Pomeranian named Sara. After a 4-day jury trial that received media attention in The Oregonian, the jury unanimously returned a verdict denying Plaintiffs’ claims. Ms. Haraguchi was assisted at trial by associate Nikki Abercrombie.
