Professional Experience
Doug joined Cable Huston as an associate in 2016 and assists the firm’s litigation, energy, public utility and environmental practice groups. He has substantial experience in legal research and writing, including drafting pleadings, briefs, demand letters and memoranda. He also has extensive experience in electronic discovery.
Doug has helped represent clients with respect to a wide variety of energy and environmental matters. His experience includes utility liability for wildfires, service territory issues, ratemaking, generation and ownership of renewable energy certificates, hazardous waste liability and exercise of eminent domain authority. Doug has also worked closely with consumer-owned utilities to draft organizational documents and agreements and provide assistance on a number of issues relating to corporate governance.
In addition to energy and environmental matters, Doug has substantial experience working with the firm’s litigation group. He has been involved in numerous matters including complex commercial litigation, corporate shareholder disputes, construction defect and contractor disputes and CERCLA actions. His experience includes assisting in depositions, mediations, and corporate internal investigations.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining Cable Huston LLP, Doug graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School. While in law school, Doug served on the Journal of Law, Science and Technology and participated in the school’s Civil Practice Clinic, which provides pro bono legal services in the areas of family, employment, consumer, and administrative law. Doug also worked for one of the top retail energy marketers in the country, assisting the legal department in regulatory and business matters.
