Professional Experience
James is a member of the firm’s litigation group and joined the firm as an associate in 2025.
Prior to joining Cable Huston James served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Oregon Court of Appeals, first for Honorable Judge Megan Jacquot, and then as a Central Project Clerk, providing drafting and research support to a wide range of judges on the court. James graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Lewis & Clark Law Review and as a Teaching Fellow for the school’s Lawyering Program, teaching legal writing and research skills to first year students. While in law school, he worked as a certified law student for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, taking several cases to trial. During his last semester of law school, James had the opportunity to work as a judicial extern for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Jolie A. Russ where he gained invaluable research and writing skills, in addition to insight into the federal court system.
Prior to law school, James earned his Master of Science in Global Health at Duke University, completing his thesis field work over the course of several months based in New Delhi, India. James moved to India full-time shortly before the pandemic to work as the liaison between members of the Indian Government, Duke, and several international non-profits as part of a research study on child well-being in institutional settings.

Personal Interests
During his free time, James enjoys riding his mountain bike in the woods, playing and writing music, and camping in remote places with his rescue dog Fern.
