Professional Experience

Steve Werts began practicing law in Seattle in 1971 and in Portland in 1974, and has always emphasized business bankruptcy law, commercial law, real property law, and commercial and bankruptcy litigation.  Mr. Werts represents both creditors and debtors in business workouts, receivorships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and reorganization proceedings as well as the foreclosure of commercial trust deeds and mortgages, and commercial security agreements. 

In addition to litigation and alternative dispute resolution his expertise extends to negotiation and documentation of business assets purchase and sale transactions.

Mr. Werts is a fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and has twice been a member of the Executive Committee of the Debtor/Creditor Section of the Oregon State Bar.  Mr. Werts is a frequent faculty member for Continuing Legal Eduction seminars on bankruptcy and creditors' rights topics, including commercial mortgages, deeds of trust and the Uniform Commercial Code.
